MESH Environmental Inc.


MESH is a small, specialized consulting firm located in Vancouver, B.C. MESH was co-founded by Peri Mehling and Shannon Shaw in August, 2005 and is currently a company of four professional geoscientists and engineers.

Peri Mehling, M.Sc., P.Eng. is a geotechnical/environmental engineer with over thirty years of experience addressing mining environmental issues. Her specialization is in the prediction of acid rock drainage and metal leaching from open pits, underground workings, waste rock, construction materials and tailings, and incorporating prevention and contro l technologies into the mine plans and waste management plans. She has worked on more than 45 new, operating and closing mines in British Columbia, the Yukon, Northwest Territories, as well as international projects in Australia, Russia, Indonesia, South America, Oman and Italy. Shannon Shaw, M.Sc., P.Geo. is a senior geochemist and mineralogist with over twelve years of experience in environmental consulting. Her areas of specialty are acid rock drainage and metal leaching prediction, geochemical assessment and modeling, hydrogeochemical evaluations, mine waste management, and the development of mine closure and control strategies. She has substantial experience in risk assessments and risk management as well as alternative evaluations and multi-stakeholder consultation. She has worked on a wide variety of projects in North America, South America, Australia and Indonesia for clients from the industry, regulartory agencies and other consulting groups. Full Resume

Andrea Samuels, B.Sc., B.Tech., G.I.T. is a geologist who has worked in the mining industry for twelve years. Her Bachelor’s degree and early experience was in exploration geology, providing her with a good background in mineralogy, core logging, trench mapping and sampling procedures. For the last seven years, she has worked in the consulting industry specializing in the assessment of acid rock drainage, metal leaching potential and water quality predictions. Her diploma studies in environmental engineering technology concentrated on contaminated site audits/remediation, water treatment and solid waste management. She has worked on projects in Canada, the United States, Australia and China. Full Resume

Tessa Schmidt, B.Sc. is an environmental scientist whose undergraduate degree was focussed on land reclamation and has since gained approximately two years of experience in the field of environmental sciences. She previously worked as an environmental officer at a coal mine in British Columbia and is currently applying her knowledge to the field of mine waste characterization and management. Full Resume
